The 2008 Grammy Awards- A Short Take

After a long day of charming paparazzi and rubbing elbows with the best in the business, the celebrities from last night Grammy Awards are no doubt sleeping off the parties and receiving first class foot massages. In the meantime, the fashion world has gotten busy pulling out their magnifying glasses of scrutiny to scream healdines over botched performances and fashion awww's and flaws.
"Glamor! Disgust! Scandal!!!" they scream in exclaimation!
And it's my turn to get in on the action.

I'll start with the golden girl of the night. Maybe I'm being too harsh on Nelly's golden glow-- falling into a tub of bronzer right before her scheduled appearance would deserve a little forgiveness. Bangles that clink into a snake-like neckpiece just didn't work. You might be able to argue for one or the other, but I say stud diamonds would have done an accomplished female vocalist good.

Nelly Furtado

Seal loves white and it loves him just as much. His eye-catching pearly duds would have been perfect had he balanced it out with the right pair of shoes. I would have liked to see at least a patent white dress shoe. Isn't this the footwear of choice for shoelace-impaired toddlers attending playdates?

Seal

Tim and Faith are such a classy couple. This dress is stunning and understated enough not to look like promwear. Kudos all around here.

Time McGraw and Faith Hill (in Valentino)

This flapper look just doesn't work for me. The gaudy plastic glitz just doesn't speak "glam." With all the fabulous designers anxious to lend their best gowns, all I can ask is "Why??"

Corrine Bailey Rae

She may be new to red carpet events, but she doesn't have to look it. Poor Colbie look like the average California girl bopping around the mall or even sunbathing on a beach. I can't help but feel sorry she didn't have better guidance before stepping out in her sundress.

Colbie Caillat

This dress was deceiving. As I gazed down a flattering silver sheath, I ran right into the secret mermaid underneath with much surprise. It gives the impression a peasant was called in to finish when our creative designer got too tired to meet deadline. Such a shame. Had he not passed off this promising piece, it could have been such a strong statement.
