My Latest Projects

This was a fun project I did last week using beads and tile. It turned out kind of funky. I do all kinds of furniture pieces, including chairs, benches, tables, signs, etc.-- This being my first in years. I'm thinking about offering them at a few shops around town, but haven't decided yet. I have a lot of work to do before I had enough pieces, but it's been on my mind.

This antique child's rocking chair is my latest find. I picked it up for $4 at a garage sale and plan to recover the seat, work on the paint, and add a little artistic flair. We'll see what it turns into!

Eggshell Art

Look at the work of eggshell artist Franc Grom! His attention to detail is amazing, drilling 2,500 to 3,500 tiny individual holes into each Slovenian design. Patience and a steady hand is definately one of his strengths.

Frame It!

Keep loving your fashion magazines by decorating with them! You can save your favorite covers and frame them, create a decopage project (such as a bookshelf papered in the covers or fashion pages), or hang them up by clothes pins. Just switch them out when you want something new.

Artistic photographer Ori Gersht captures high speed images that embody the concept that things can be gone in an instant. His images are the split second when they fly apart in exploding power, leaving his audience to ponder the meaning.

This piece, called "Time After Time," uses flowers as a symbol of peace as they are blown apart. In an instant, the peaceful beauty is gone. This photo, resembling an oil painting, captures the moment in between the 'before' and 'after.' It's a powerful reality.

Pencil Art

Artist Jennifer Maestre uses pencil shavings to create intricate sculptures. Each shaving is pieced together and held by pins, nails, zippers, and other materials. The result almost comes to life! These remind me of living things you might see at the bottom of the ocean or in an exotic saltwater aquarium.

Jennifer teaches her technique to students and is a graduate of Wesley College and The Massachusetts College of Art.

I grew up in love with a coffee table book of Robert Vavra images. His depiction of horses and their relationship with people sprouted a lifelong love affair that led me to own and show Arabians and National Show Horses for many exciting years. I attempted to paint this picture once, but of course, could not do it justice.
